Weather improves in Kashmir, another wet spell from Monday: Met

Srinagar, May 27: After  three days of inclement weather in Kashmir, there was significant improvement in prevailing weather conditions on Saturday, while the Meteorological Department has predicted  another wet spell from Monday onward, officials said.
Director MeT, Sonam Lotus told Rising Kashmir that after three days, weather improved significantly on Saturday in the valley. “We are expecting dry and cloudy weather during the next 24 hours in the region,” he said.
He said from May 29t to 31, there is a possibility of widespread light to moderate rain, thunderstorm. Some places will receive heavy rain during the same period.
As weather improved, the maximum temperatures in Kashmir on Saturday recorded a rise in day temperatures, Srinagar recorded 21.3 degrees Celsius as the maximum temperature and 9.0 °C as the minimum temperature.
Pahalgam settled at 19.1°C degrees and 2.8 °C as minimum temperatures. Ski-resort Gulmarg recorded 10.6 °C as the maximum temperature and 1.2°C as minimum temperature.
 Winter Capital Jammu recorded 34.0 degrees Celsius as the maximum temperature and 20.1 °C as the minimum temperature.
 A traffic police department spokesman said during the past 24 hours, Jammu Srinagar highway remained closed for 04 hours 46 mins due to Shooting stones and maintenance work at multiple places.
On Sunday,  subject to fair weather and road clearance, Passenger and Private Cars shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
“TCU Jammu, Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic,” it said.
Similarly, on the Srinagar-Leh highway, LMVs shall be allowed from both sides and HMVs shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Kargil on SSG road. 
“LMVs will be released from Sonamarg towards Kargil at 0600 hrs. to 0830 hrs. followed by HMVs upto 1030 hrs. and LMVs will be released from Minamarg towards Srinagar at 1400 hrs upto 1700 hrs.  No vehicle shall be allowed between 1700 hrs. and 0600 hrs,” it said.
Similarly on Mughal Road, subject to fair weather and good road condition, only one way traffic LMVs from Poonch towards Shopian shall be allowed  on Mughal Road. These vehicles shall be allowed from Behramgalla (Buffliaz) towards Shopian at 1000 hrs. upto 1400 hrs, reads the advisory.
