Baltal, July 10 : After a three-day suspension caused by adverse weather conditions and incessant rainfall, the annual Amarnath Yatra resumed today from the Baltal base camp. The improved weather conditions allowed a new batch of pilgrims to embark on their journey to the holy cave, both on foot and through the helicopter service.
Since the commencement of the Yatra, approximately 7,000 devotees have departed from the Baltal and Nunwan Base camps, undertaking the arduous pilgrimage to pay their respects at the sacred cave shrine situated at an elevation of 3,880 meters in the Valley.
The suspension of the Yatra over the past three days was necessitated by the severe weather conditions and heavy rainfall that plagued the Valley. However, with the improving weather, the pilgrimage has been able to resume, bringing relief to the devotees.
According to official sources, a staggering one lakh pilgrims have already paid their obeisance at the holy cave during the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, which encompasses both Central and South Kashmir.
Sources confirm that the Yatra is progressing smoothly on both the shortest Baltal route daily pilgrimage to the holy cave from both these routes, ensuring the steady flow of devotees.
