‘Water a precious gift, need to preserve it’

Ganderbal, March 23: “Human beings have polluted the water bodies and as a result, the world is facing water scarcity. Water is a precious gift of Almighty and we shall take necessary steps to preserve it,” said Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Kangan Essar-Ul-Nabi on Thursday here.
He was speaking at an event marked to observe World Water Day here at Sultania High School Thune Kangan, organised by the Tehsil Legal Services Committee Kangan in collaboration with Human Rights & Anti Corruption Unit J&K.
Tehsildar Kangan, BDC Chairperson and other respectable personalities from the concerned area participated in the awareness programme.
While speaking on the occasion, Essar-Ul-Nabi said, “Although in Kashmir we are not facing as much problem of water scarcity as in the other parts of the country or the world that does not mean that we shall not take responsibility to preserve it.” 
“Deforestation, soil erosion, floods, climate change and water scarcity are interrelated to each other and once we create one problem once among them it leads to another problem,” he added.
Essar-Ul-Nabi urged the participants to take a pledge to protect water resources and preserve them for future generations. He urged teachers to create awareness among students regarding the protection of natural resources. 
Advocate Sajad Ahmad about the importance of water in our lives and presented a detailed statistics about the water scarcity facing by the world. Tehsildar Kangan also spoke on the topic and had an interactive session with students of the institution.
