Jammu, Apr 16: The Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board has officially begun construction work at Jamia Masjid Talab Khatikan in Jammu. Waqf Board Chairperson Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi on Thursday visited the site and issued directions for the completion of the project within a stipulated time frame.
The mosque, described as one of the largest in Jammu, had remained incomplete for years due to mismanagement. The Waqf Board has now taken responsibility for completing the project, with work commencing during the Chairperson’s visit.
“We have decided not to waste our energy on revisiting past misappropriation and mismanagement, which delayed the construction of this significant prayer centre in Jammu city. Instead, the Board has taken up the work and, as per our track record over the past few years, we will complete it within the stipulated time frame. I have personally finalised the plan and instructed the engineering wing to ensure quality work and timely completion,” Dr Andrabi said.
The Chairperson also met prominent members of the locality and sought their support for the project. Civil society members appreciated the initiative and expressed hope that the long-pending project would now be completed.
Dr Andrabi was accompanied by Administrator Aabid Hussain and members of the Board’s engineering team.
