Bandipora, Dec 20: An elderly man perished while he was standing in line to hand in his old age pension application in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Tuesday morning.
An official told Rising Kashmir that the man unexpectedly fainted in line while he was queuing to turn in his old age pension documentation at Tehsil social welfare office Bandipora following which he was rushed to the district hospital Bandipora where he was declared dead upon arrival.
Medical Superintendent District hospital Bandipora, Dr Sheikh Mushtaq told Rising Kashmir that the possible reason of death was due to cardiopulmonary arrest as his pupils were not reacting to light.
The deceased was identified as Sonaullah Bhat(62) of the Bandipora district’s remote hamlet of Malangam.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmed told Rising Kashmir that elderly Pension seekers are not required to hand in paper versions of their verification and only those with any trouble or lacking in any way are contacted through the control room to make the necessary alterations that can be done at CSC(s).
He claimed that the individual was not asked to go to the Bandipora Tehsil Social Welfare Officer’s office to hand in a physical copy nor were they asked to visit CSC.
He additionally declared that in order to check all the details of the case, an inquiry has been ordered which shall be conducted by the Additional District Development Commissioner, Bandipora and the results of that shall be shared in due course.
