Vijayawada, Dec 08: Talented batting all-rounder Mohammad Zaid missed a ton by a whisker in the second essay, after top scoring with 37 runs in the first innings followed by 3-wicket haul in a drawn match against Karnataka at CP Ground Mulapadu, Vijayawada on Friday.
J&K bundled out for 148 runs in the first innings. Zaid top scored with 37 runs, while Arun Kumar and Rahil Younis contributed 28 and 27 runs respectively.
Vaibhav C. and Talha Sharief captured 3 wickets each for Karnataka.
In reply, Karnataka declared their first innings at 263/8 with Anikesh Reddy, Anyvay Dravid and Talha Sharief contributing 93, 78 and 39 runs to the total respectively.
For J&K, Mohammad Zaid took 3 wickets, while Saksham Charak, Jeevesh Gupta and Arun Kumar claimed one wicket each.
Sailing on Zaid’s brilliant 98 runs in the second essay, J&K scored 261 runs in 83.5 overs. He scored 98 off 122 balls, studded with 14 fours and 4 sixes, while Mohammad Shifan and Arjun Sharma contributed 68 and 40 runs respectively.
Milan Dhami took 3 wickets for Karnataka, while Vaibhav, Dhyaan and Tejas shared one wicket each.
Chasing a target of 147 runs in 22 overs in the last session, Karnataka managed to score 141 runs and fell short of just 6 runs from the victory target, losing 8 wickets, thus the match ended in a draw.
Talhah Sharief, Anvay Dravid and Anikesh Reddy contributed 40, 30 and 25 runs to the total respectively.
For J&K, Jeevesh Gupta took 3 wickets while Manitvya claimed one wicket.
