Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu pays maiden visit to KVK Samba

Prof. Bhupinder Nath Tripathi, Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Samba on 03rd July, 2023. On his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by Prof. Sanjay Khajuria, Chief Scientist and Head, KVK Samba along with his team.
Vice-Chancellor instructed KVK Samba to make best use of the resources available with the KVK to generate revenue for the institution building as well as to establish new demo units. In his interaction, he laid emphasis on promotion of Integrated farming System Model, Value addition of fruits and vegetables and promotion of protected cultivation among the farming community, which is also the primary motto of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. His discussion was mainly focused on increasing the farmers income manifold through establishing marketing linkages, packaging and branding of agriculture products. 
He emphasized on cluster development approach in farming and impressed upon promotion of Self help groups (SHGs) in the district.At the outset, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor interacted with scientists and staff of the KVK. He had a one-on-one talk with the scientists of the KVK to learn about the various ideas and initiatives undertaken by them. He appreciated the efforts of the KVK for reaching to farmers of the district to adopt newer technologies for enhancing agricultural production. He exhorted them to work whole heartedly to improve the economic conditions of the farmers. He emphasized upon laying thrust on value addition, mushroom cultivation, poultry farming, beekeeping, vegetable and nursery farming, custom hiring centre. 
Chancellor appreciated the team of the KVK Samba and also wished them well for their future endeavours and assured full support from the university as and when required.
Earlier, Prof. Sanjay Khajuria gave a brief presentation on the initiatives undertaken by the KVK before the worthy Vice-chancellor for the welfare of the farming community. He highlighted the role of the KVK in improving the socio-economic conditions of the farmers of the district Samba.
