‘Kashmir’s artistic community mourns loss’

Srinagar, May 5: Veteran actor Rafiq Matoo, known for his significant contribution to Kashmiri theatre and television, passed away on Tuesday, leaving behind a rich legacy in the region’s cultural landscape. He was widely respected for his powerful performances and decades-long association with the performing arts, earning admiration from audiences and peers alike.

 

 The All Jammu & Kashmir Radio and Television Artists, Freelance Producers and Directors Association, in its condolence message, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, stating that the news of his demise has deeply saddened the entire artistic fraternity. The association noted that with his passing, the community has lost a highly talented artist, creating a void that will be difficult to fill.

 

They said that late Rafiq Matoo was not only an exceptionally skilled and versatile performer but also a humble, sincere, and kind-hearted human being. His warm and friendly nature endeared him to friends, colleagues, and relatives alike, making him a beloved figure among all who knew him.

 

President of the Association, Sheikh Tariq Javed, in his condolence message, said that the artistic community has lost yet another invaluable asset, and that the contributions of the late artist will always be remembered.

 

The Association prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and strength and patience for the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
