JAMMU, Nov 09: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today delivered the keynote address at the inaugural Vedic Conference themed “Vedon mein Vigyan at Shri Ranbir Campus, Central Sanskrit University, Kot Bhalwal.
OrganiSed by Vigyan Bharati in collaboration with the Central Sanskrit University, the conference brought together scholars and experts to explore the scientific knowledge embedded in the Vedas.
Commending the efforts of the organisers, the Lt Governor congratulated all participants and emphasised the timeless relevance of Vedic knowledge. He underscored that the Vedas represent a comprehensive scientific knowledge system that has inspired generations. “Our Vedas are the earliest records of human scientific thought and have shaped learning traditions over the ages,” he stated.
Lt Governor Sinha highlighted India’s rich heritage of science and spirituality, emphasizing that during the Vedic period, India was a global leader in economy, education, culture, and philosophy. “India’s advancements in mathematics, astronomy, medicine, and socio-economic development laid the foundation for the world’s progress,” he said.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to preserving ancient Indian values, the Lt Governor credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for rekindling national pride and self-confidence in the country’s heritage. “Under the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s leadership, India is emerging as a global economic powerhouse and reclaiming the glory once held during the Vedic era,” he remarked.
The Lt Governor stressed the importance of leveraging ancient knowledge in various fields, such as science, mathematics, and botany, to build a modern knowledge-based economy. He urged educational institutions and social organizations to reconnect youth with their cultural roots. “This conference will inspire innovative teaching methods and contribute to the Indian knowledge system,” he added.
During the event, Lt Governor Sinha unveiled a Saraswati idol on campus and released several scholarly publications. The gathering was attended by Padma Shri Prof. Vishwamurti Shastri; Vice Chancellors Prof. B.N. Tripathi of SKUAST Jammu and Prof. Rani Sadasiva Murty of Sri Venkateswara Vedic University; Dr. Shiv Kumar Sharma, National Organizing Secretary of Vigyan Bharati; and Dr. Somdev Bharadwaj, North India Regional Head of Vigyan Bharati, among others.
