Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath, said, the training programme marks a significant step towards fostering linguistic inclusivity and enhancing administrative efficiency of the CUKashmir employees. “By equipping the staff with the requisite skills to use Hindi confidently, the university has reaffirmed its commitment to the ideals of national integration and cultural pride,” he said. CUKashmir VC added that, the university plans to institutionalize such training programmes, making them a regular feature of its capacity-building initiatives. “With sustained efforts and a proactive approach, the university can set an example for other institutions in promoting the use of Hindi in higher education administration,” he further added. Prof. A Ravinder Nath, asked the participants to take full advantage of the programme and gain knowledge from the expert.
In his address, Registrar, Prof. Afzal Zargar said that recognizing the critical role played by administrative staff in the seamless functioning of a university, the programme aims to equip them with the skills necessary to carry out official tasks in Hindi. “The broader vision is to encourage a gradual transition towards bilingual proficiency, ensuring that Hindi receives its due prominence while accommodating English where necessary,” he said. Prof. Zargar said that during the training programme, the participants will learn practical skills for drafting official correspondence, including letters, reports, and notices in Hindi.
In her speech, Prof. Kiran Lata Yadav, Hindi Professor, CHTI, Department of Official Languages, Ministry of Home Affairs, GOI, said, the programme will contribute significantly to the university’s linguistic landscape. “By empowering administrative staff to use Hindi more effectively, the university can ensure greater inclusivity and adherence to the official language policy,” she further said.
Earlier, Hindi Adhikari, Dr. Sakina Akhter, in her welcome address, said the training programme includes several engaging sessions, each focusing on specific aspects of the Rajbhasha policy and its implementation. She added that the expert will clarify the doubts of employees registered in different correspondence courses and will upgrade their learning and writing skills in Rajbhasha Hindi.
