Pulwama, April 13: Vishaal Bharat Sanghathan (VBS) on Saturday organised a cleanliness drive at the famous tourist spot of Pahalgam in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The cleanliness drive was carried out at Aru valley in the upper reaches of Pahalgam.
Talking to Rising Kashmir, Dr Ishfaq Ahmad, state president of VBS, said that the main motive of their organisation is to serve humanity.
He added that each year thousands of local and foreign tourists from across different areas visit this place to enjoy the natural beauty.
“The aim of this drive was to send a message that we need to maintain cleanliness at ecologically fragile places like Pahalgam,” he said, adding that they need to mitigate the impact of climate change so that the tourism sector remains unaffected.
The VBS state president said that around 200 volunteers took part in the cleanliness drive.
He said that such drives will be continued at different places across Kashmir for ensuring sustainable environment and preserving natural resources for the future generations.
He also revealed that VBS will facilitate tourists at Pahalgam in coming days.
“Soon VBS will share a toll free number for tourists. They can contact us for assistance on the toll free number,” he said.
VBS is a non-government organisation which has been working in different parts of the country since 1992.

Just by doing cleaning work for one day won’t solve the problem instead install machineries to eradicate wastes like leftover unwanted veg non veg food crusher machine, plastic bottle crusher machine, old clothes shreadder machine, coconut crusher machine these machineries would help eradicate waste at the maximum and bring less burden on the corporation to collect wastes again’ and again and also the people would get a relief from wastes if they acquire such machineries ,+919963356746
Good initiative. I was at Lidder Resort recently, which is on the bank of river Lidder. There are at least 50 premium to ordinary hotels in a 3 km radius, who dump the garbage at one spot on the banks of the river Lidder.
If this group could go to that place and do a clean-up drive there, and do an awareness campaign for the Hotel owners, mother nature and tourists coming there will bless them.
