Jammu: Apni Party Spokesperson and Youth Wing, General Secretary, Abhay Bakaya on Sunday appreciated the police for their swift action and arrest of the accused person involved in vandalising a religious place in Nagrota that had triggered protests and strong condemnation.
As per a press release, Abhay expressed his shock over the incident that has triggered protests, and widespread anger among the people from all the sections of society.
He said, “It appears that the incident was aimed to spark communal tension and destabilise the peaceful atmosphere in Jammu District where people from different faiths live in peace.”
Bakaya said the police acted swiftly and apprehended the accused miscreant who dared to hurt the religious sentiments. He urged the police to put him behind bars under stringent laws.
The Apni Party leader sought cooperation from community leaders to come together and jointly ensure that the peace is maintained. He said the elements responsible for vandalizing the religious place should be arrested by the police.
Abhay recalled how a similar incident had taken place in Reasi, and accordingly cautioned the authorities against the elements who are bent upon hurting the sentiments with their acts. “The authorities should act tough against the elements who work with a motive to destabilize the peaceful situation,” he added.
