Jammu, Mar 13: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today addressed the Spiritual and Value Education Summit in New Delhi, urging scholars and educators to transform the education system into a comprehensive framework that fosters intellectual growth and moral integrity in students.
In his inaugural address, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized the importance of integrating ethics and values into education, stating, “The seamless integration of ethics and values is essential to create an enlightened society and a powerful nation. Without balancing our ancient value system with modern skills, long-term economic growth is unsustainable.”
He further added, “Value-based education empowers students to discover their true potential. It aids in character building and inspires them to lead a righteous life. This holistic approach can propel the nation onto a growth trajectory, bringing about the changes needed for national development.”
The Lieutenant Governor stressed the need to impart ethical, moral, and social values alongside academic knowledge and technical skills. He said, “Our youth must have Science in one hand and Samskara (culture) in the other. As we advance in science and technology, we must also incorporate traditional values, cultural heritage, and the teachings of great personalities into the core curriculum of education.”
“Education should produce scientists, artists, and spiritualists. Only when these spirits merge can we save education from being one-dimensional and succeed in creating a holistic system,” he added.
Addressing the need for future-ready education systems, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the rapid pace of change in today’s world, which requires constant skilling and reskilling to meet industry needs. He encouraged educators to go beyond textbooks and equip students with the skills required for success in their future careers.
“The true power of education lies in its transformative ability. To build a Viksit Bharat (Developed India), we must harness the potential of education and our skilled human resources,” said the Lieutenant Governor.
He urged students to embrace lifelong learning and explore their inner potential through self-awareness and self-exploration. “True education shows the path to liberation. It helps you know yourself better and achieve your life’s goals,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasised that education is not just about rote learning or marks. “Education is a medium through which you can achieve individuality, awaken your consciousness, and acquire modern skills to succeed in your chosen fields. The goal should not be achieving the highest marks but focusing on developing lifelong learning skills,” he stated.
He encouraged students to follow their passions and strive for creativity, suggesting that this would help them learn new skills to meet industry demands and succeed in their careers.
The Lieutenant Governor also called for educational institutions to aim for a Zero Stress Campus, where students can nurture their unique talents. He urged parents to support their children in developing a strong personality aligned with their passions, ensuring they are free to pursue subjects that resonate with their interests. “When youth are given the opportunity to choose subjects based on their passions, they can reach new heights,” he said.
Lieutenant Governor also congratulated Dr. Priyaranjan Trivedi, the members of Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar Vishwa Hindu Vidyapeeth, the Indian Institute of Ecology and Environment (IEE), and all those associated with the summit for their contributions to this important cause.
