Srinagar, March 09: In conformity with the cherished tradition and supreme sacrifice of Brave hearts in reverence, the “Valour Day” was celebrated at GC CRPF, Srinagar by firstly paying homage to the Brave hearts who laid down their lives at the altar of duty.
Ajay Kumar Yadav, IPS, Inspector General, CRPF, Srinagar paid tribute to the Martyrs of the CRPF by laying a wreath at the “Shaheed Samark”. Later, he addressed the Sainik Sammelan and felicitated Veer Naris/families of martyrs and recipients of DG’s Disc & DG’s Commendation Certificate and IG’s Commendation Certificate for their contribution during Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2023 in an investiture ceremony during which Shri Mathew A. John, DIG South Srinagar, Shri Rajesh Kumar DIG GC Srinagar and other senior officers/jawans of Srinagar Sector/Ops units were present.
Valour day is celebrated every year on 09th April to commemorate the saga of exemplary valour, unparalleled courage and phenomenal fortitude displayed by barely 04 companies of CRPF on 9th April 1965 at Saradar Post in Rann of Kuchh, Gujarat against a full-fledged Brigade attack perpetrated by Pakistan Army.
The Brave hearts of 2nd Bn CRPF had not only repulsed the attack, but also inflicted heavy casualties on Pakistan Army, neutralising 34 Pakistani soldiers and capturing 04 alive. In this legendary battle 08 brave hearts of CRPF made supreme sacrifice, leaving behind the trails of exceptional valour and exemplary courage for generations.
On this occasion, Shri Ajay Kumar Yadav, IPS, Inspector General, CRPF, Srinagar, named the road from Main Gate of Cricket ground to Valley QAT Campus in the honour of Shaheed Mohd Yasin Teli of 115 Bn, besides naming newly constructed Gymnasium at Valley QAT, location in the name of F/ No. 065044856 CT/GD Shaheed Pradeep Kumar Panda of 132 Bn. 02 Veer Naris ( Smt. Dilshada Begum W/O CT/GD Shaheed Rafiq Ahmed Khan & Smt. Shamima Bano W/O CT/GD Shaheed Mohd Yasin Teli) and Smt. Raja Banoo mother of CT/GD Shaheed Sariefuddin Ganie, were felicitated with Shawl/bouquets .
Shri Ajay Kumar Yadav, IPS, Inspector General, CRPF, Srinagar, also distributed 03 Wheel Chairs received from CWWA, Directorate General under the scheme of “ MUSKAN & SMILE” among Divyang children (Ayaan Umar S/O CT/GD Umar Mukhtar of 24 Bn, Saqib-IBN-E Umer S/O CT/GD Umar Ramzan Bhat of 18 Bn and Pravaiz Wall Mir S/O CT/GD Wall Mohd Mir of 132 Bn.
On this occasion, Essay writing and painting competition followed by volleyball match between GC CRPF Srinagar and Valley QAT and cultural programme were also organized.
Winners of these competitions were felicitated by Shri Rajesh Kumar DIG, GC CRPF Srinagar.
Other senior officers and a large number of CRPF personnel and family members residing inside the Campus remained present to witness these functions/programmes.
Commandant Pandey salutes unparalleled courage of brave hearts
Valour Day was celebrated with great zeal,pride and patriotism at 75 Battalion, Srinagar. The celebration started with a salutation by the ceremonial guard at the Quarter Guard to Shri K K Pandey, Commandant.
Shri Pandey addressed the gathering on the occasion. Emphasising on the importance of this day, Sh Pandey remembered the saga of exemplary valour, unparalleled courage and phenomenal fortitude displayed by barely 4 companies of CRPF on 9th April, 1965 at Sardar Post in Rann of Kuchh, Gujarat, against a full-fledged brigade attack perpetrated by Pakistan Army. Saluting the indomitable courage and bravery of the heroes of Sardar Post, he further added that the history of CRPF is adorned with numerous glorious achievements of valour and sacrifice. Battling challenges of various magnitudes and forms, CRPF has evolved into a mature force which is capable of handling any challenge before internal security.
It was a matter of great pride for the Bn that on this auspicious occasion Sh K K Pandey CO , Sh Kamlesh Pandey AC , Sh Arun Kumar Rana AC, Sh Om Prakash AC and Insp Shashi Kumar were awarded with DG Disc and Commendation certificate for their valuable and dedicated contribution in Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2023.
In continuation of the event, inter company tug-of-war competition was organized in the evening at the Hari niwas camp . The winners and runners up were awarded by Sh Pandey, Comdt.
Finally, in the evening Bada Khana was organized in the messes and all ranks enjoyed the delicacies of a rich and healthy food, together.
