Jammu, Jan 30: Chairing a high-level meeting to review the project status of implementation of the UT-wide CCTV surveillance system, Director General of Police (DGP) J&K Dilbag Singh on Monday said the move is aimed at providing a safe and secure environment to the people and visitors of Jammu & Kashmir.
During the meeting held at Police Headquarters here, the DGP said the system would help in instilling confidence in the citizens of being secured. “By this system, we will keep an eye on the ground 24X7. It will help in curbing the crime rate in the UT and will be useful in identification and nabbing of anti-national elements and criminals with alerts generated by the system once commissioned,” he said.
When completed, it should be a state-of-the-art facility and futuristic plans must be kept in mind as CCTV cameras numbers would continue to be added in the future as per the needs, Singh said while stressing that day-to-day activity upon the project should be shared among the members to know the pace of the work.
The police chief said the quality of equipment and logistics to be used for the project must be of quality. He impressed upon the officers to take all the necessary measures for completing the project on time, by meeting the deadlines. He impressed upon the System Integrated Project to work 24×7 and complete the project in the stipulated time. He directed the ADGP Armed to take regular meetings of the task force to monitor the implementation of the project closely.
The meeting was attended by ADGP Armed J&K SJM Gillani, ADGP Headquarters PHQ M K Sinha, IGP Headquarters PHQ B S Tuti, DIG DKR Range Dr. Sunil Gupta, DIG UR Range M Suliaman Choudhary, DIG Traffic J&K Shridhar Patil, AIsG (P&T) PHQ Gurinderpal Singh, CO IRP 15th Bn Mubassir Latifi, AIG (Tech) PHQ Manoj Kumar Pandit, SO to DIG JSK Range Rajinder Katoch, SP PCR Jammu Hafeezullah, representatives of M/s TICL, M/S E&Y, M/S ELKOSTA, and other gazetted officers of PHQ, a police spokesperson said in a statement.
DIG NKR Vivek Gupta, DIG CKR Sujit Kumar, DIG SKR Rayees Mohammad Bhat, DIG RP Range Dr. Mohd Haseeb Mughal, IT Consultant for J&K Govt Sanjay Gaden, and Project Manager IT Deptt. J&K Irfan Ahmad attended the meeting through video conferencing.
Earlier, ADGP Armed J&K SJM Gillani briefed the DGP about various measures taken for implementing the project work. There was a threadbare discussion on different components of the projects, and valuable suggestions were exchanged, the spokesperson said.
