Anantnag, Sep 10: UT Level Inter District Cricket Tournament for U-19 age group kicks off in Anantnag. The tournament was formally inaugurated by Principal BHSS Bijbehara Nasreena Akhter along with DYSSO Anantnag Raja Yaqoob here at BHSS ground Bijbehara on Tuesday.
The tournament is hosted by DYSSO Anantnag on four different venues viz Bijbehara, Qazigund, Sports Ground Arwani and Railway ground Hassanpora Bijbehara. In the tournament, teams from 8 districts of Kashmir division are participating.
The chief Guest of the Inaugural ceremony, Nasreena Akhter lauded active participation of youth which indeed is pivotal to thwart drug menace among youth. She said that DYSSO Anantnag is doing commendable job by organising such tournaments for schools’ students which provides them a platform to showcase their Cricketing talent to the world. She further said that many such tournaments should be organised in near future to promote sports among the youth.
The DYSSO Anantnag, Raja Yaqoob while addressing players said that we are here to promote sports and we provide platform for the youngsters so that they can excel in sports. Later, He thanked Principal BHSS Bijbehara for supporting and extending full cooperation in conducting such tournaments in the school ground.
This UT-Level Cricket Tournament has adopted a league cum knockout format, ensuring that all participating players enjoy equitable opportunities to showcase their talent, rather than opting solely for a knockout tournament. Cricket enthusiasts and sports aficionados across the Union Territory are eagerly following the tournament, with high expectations for more thrilling action in the days to come.
