Jammu, March 09: Director Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) Ajaz Ahmad Bhat on Thursday said that under the leadership of Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, the government is committed to creating an enabling environment for entrepreneurship and self-employment. He said a single window system for new businesses is one such step towards ease of doing business.
The Director JKEDI inaugurated a ten-day Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) under Mission Youth’s Tejaswani livelihood scheme organized by JKEDI’s Centre for Women Entrepreneurship (CENWENT). The EDP was attended by female candidates from across the Jammu district who will undergo a training programme with a focus on self-development, basic business skills, business and marketing plan formulation, account management, and sector-specific technical inputs, and will be appraised of all the formalities involved in setting up an enterprise. The aim of the programme is to help candidates to be self-reliant and facilitate capacity building.
The Director JKEDI while congratulating the women present at the programme said there is a lot to celebrate about women’s achievements. “There is much more to do in that direction and we need to embrace equality and build a better world for women,” he said.
“I want each and every candidate present here to focus on innovation and adopt the latest technology. One should undertake a thorough market survey before choosing an activity so that their business venture turns successful,” Bhat said, adding that it is imperative to take advantage of various government initiatives meant for setting up an enterprise.
The scheme is a special initiative of Mission Youth J&K, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, aimed at providing financial assistance to young women for setting up gainful self-employment ventures suited to their skills, aptitude, and local conditions. It will empower and encourage women to set up income-generating units through manufacturing, services, or trading activities.
Upon successful completion of the training programme, these registered female candidates will receive assistance in establishing or expanding their business ventures. Their Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) will also be prepared by JKEDI.
