Amar Singh College organized a mega event to felicitate winners of the Divisional Level Contest in the categories of painting, debate, and quiz to celebrate the UT Foundation Day 2023.
The Divisional Contest was the last phase of the three-tier contests that took place at the College, District and Divisional levels and were organized by the Department of Higher Education, UT of J&K.
30 Winners from the ten districts of Kashmir division in the above-mentioned three categories participated in the event. The event themes highlighted the massive transformation that UT of J&K has undergone including infrastructure and upscaling of developmental works.
The event was graced by the Principals of Kashmir division colleges.
Prof. (Dr) Yasmeen Ashai, Director of Colleges UT of Jammu and Kashmir was the chief guest at the occasion.
Prof. Ashai in her address focused on the pivotal role of educational institutions in transforming the region and fostering academic excellence. She discussed the importance of academic freedom, research, and innovation, which are vital for the growth of the Union Territory.
Anshu Gupta, Director Planning at the Department of Higher Education, UT of Jammu and Kashmir, and Guest of honour for the event added a unique dimension to the event with her special address. She shared insights into the planning and development initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of education in Jammu and Kashmir. Her speech underscored the government’s commitment to providing a conducive learning environment and access to quality education.
Earlier, the event commenced with the welcome address delivered by Prof. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, Principal of Amar Singh College and Nodal Principal Kashmir Division colleges.
Prof. Ajaz highlighted the importance of a corruption free society and implementation of e-Governance measures for transparency and equity. He reiterated the importance of education in building a brighter future for the youth of the region and urged students to actively participate in the discussions, debates, and celebrations.
The speeches were followed by the cultural programme performed by the students of the Department of Music and a film screening on the theme Badalta Jammu Kashmir by the students of the Media Department
The event proceeded with the felicitation of the institutes and individual students who were declared winners in the three contests.
Zobiya Hasan of GCET Safapora, Ganderbal earned Ist Prize in Painting Competition, Irfat of GDC Killam earned the 2nd Position and the 3rd prize was given to Mehran Nisar of GDC Boys Anantnag.
The winners of the Quiz contest were Owais Asad Mir of GDC Boniyar who got the 1st prize, Dayal Firdaus of GDC Pulwama was awarded 2nd prize and Basit Ahmad Bhat of GDC Boys Anantnag was awarded the third prize in the contest.
The winners of the Debate were Fahad Fayaz, a student of Amar Singh College, who earned 1st prize, Syed Hina Zainab of Government SAM Degree College Budgam, earned the 2nd prize and Zainab Novshad of GDC Kulgam earned the third prize.
The winning colleges were also felicitated in the grand felicitation ceremony to honour the tireless efforts they have put in to train and groom their students.
