Srinagar, Oct 31: Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front (JKPDF), Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen on Thursday criticised the celebration of UT Foundation Day, calling it a contradiction to the commitments made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, Hakeem expressed concern that the celebration has sown doubt among the populace about the government’s intentions to fulfill its promises regarding statehood restoration after delimitation and the upcoming assembly elections. He said the demand for statehood is a unifying issue across political affiliations in Jammu and Kashmir.
The PDF chief urged Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Shah to prioritise the restoration of statehood in the forthcoming winter session of Parliament,.
