Use technology to counter new trends of radicalisation: DIG-UR to officers

Jammu, March 27: DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range Mohd Suleman Choudhary on Monday called upon the officers to review the new trends of “radicalization” and attempts to revive militancy in district Reasi. 
“All the officers should work hard, keep track of the activities of OGWs and surrendered terrorists of their area so as to keep a check on their nefarious designs,” Choudhary said while chairing a crime and security review meeting at District Police Lines Reasi. The meeting was attended by SSP Reasi Amit Gupta-JKPS, Addl. SP Reasi Master Popsy, Dy.SP Hqtrs, SDPOs and SHOs of Reasi. 
The DIG-UR said that officers should use technology to counter new trends in terrorism and also monitor social media platforms that are being used to radicalise the local youth. 
The officers were asked to work with zeal and dedication to curb other social crimes like bovine smuggling, narcotics and drug abuse, etc. They were asked to take special care of the security of vital installations and religious places. 
During the meeting, police station-wise review of progress on crime investigation, inquest proceedings, crime against women, action against drug peddlers, bovine smugglers, and other anti-national elements were discussed in the meeting. 
The progress of police stations in the tracing of missing persons, and absconders, solving theft and burglary cases and execution of court process were also discussed threadbare. SHOs /SDPOs of Police Stations of district Reasi explained to the officer regarding cases disposal and progress on different aspects of the crime of their respective jurisdictions. SSP Reasi put forth a detailed view of district Reasi on all the agenda points including the achievements of district police Reasi in the recent past as well as the initiatives that were taken. 
The officers were instructed to achieve notable progress on the disposal of pending inquest proceedings, investigation of theft cases and cases under the NDPS Act besides other special reported cases.
After the meeting, DIG Udhampur Reasi Range distributed school uniforms to 10 students of Government Middle School Bagga Mahore and 10 students of Government Middle School Mahore and 25 desks each school under the Civic Action Programme of Jammu & Kashmir Police. He also interacted with the students and faculty of schools and assured all kinds of assistance for students.
