SRINAGAR, Nov 03: Reiterating that the usage of  crude electric appliances is causing heavy loss to power supply, the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, today said that the usage of such devices by unscrupulous  people is  causing huge loss of electricity leading to interruption in regular power supply.
He enjoined upon Deputy Commissioners to sensitise people about disadvantages of usage of crude electronic appliances.
During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner emphasized the need to launch a public awareness campaign to safeguard transformers and expensive equipment at receiving stations. He stressed the importance of educating the general public about the significant financial implications of unethical power consumption. Additionally, he called for decisive measures to address issues such as electricity misuse, unauthorized connections, and power theft.
Simultaneously, he urged the public to collaborate with the authorities to guarantee consistent electricity provision according to the established timetable. The Divisional Commissioner also assessed the progress of diverse projects funded through various schemes, emphasizing the need for district officials to meet the set targets for the current fiscal year. Furthermore, he directed district officials to accelerate the maintenance activities at tourist attractions, ensuring their functionality during the winter months, considering the significant influx of visitors to these sites.
The Divisional  Commissioner emphasized upon DCs to focus on deliverables and quality disposal of grievances in their respective districts.
Further, he directed DCs to make strenuous efforts to increase the number of drug free panchayats. He instructed them to  engage Numberdars and Chowkidars in programmes, activities and Nasha Mukhat Bharat campaigns.
