Srinagar, May 28: The 12th Annual Urs of the renowned Sufi saint Subhan Bab, affectionately known as Subhan Saeb Pohloo among his followers, was celebrated with great fervour in his native village of Saderkot Payeen in the north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
On this auspicious day, the Urs was marked by the recitation of the holy Quran, prayers and Naat. Special prayers were offered for peace and tranquillity in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the entire country.
Subhan Bab, a revered pious and spiritual personality, hailed from the village of Saderkot Payeen in Bandipora. This year, hundreds of devotees paid obeisance to seek the blessings of the saint. During the annual Urs, a free langar (community kitchen) was organised for the devotees, ensuring that everyone was provided with food as a gesture of communal harmony and service.
Dr Qazi Haroon, a renowned doctor, public health expert, and Sufi writer, who is also a disciple of the Sufi saint, spoke highly of Subhan Bab’s humanitarian efforts and his belief in peace and coexistence. “Subhan Bab was a great humanitarian who believed in peace and coexistence. People of all faiths used to flock to him and benefit from his wisdom and blessings. There are countless miracles attributed to him, even I cannot count them all,” Dr Haroon said.
