Union Minister Kiren Rijiju visited Kargil on Sunday, where he praised the Centre, saying that the people of the area have benefited from the government’s work and in the future, it can help in many sectors here along with its cultural heritage.

“I am visiting Kargil for the first time after becoming a minister. Under PM Modi’s leadership, the work is being done for the development of minorities. I am witnessing that the people of Kargil have benefited from the government’s work. We will work here with PM Modi’s mantra of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’. It will help in self-employment and employment generation too. We can help in many sectors here, along with its cultural heritage,” Rijiju said.

The Union Minister, during his visit to Kargil, also announced major development initiatives aimed at enhancing the socio-economic status of minorities in Ladakh.

Key announcements included the establishment of a cultural centre and an educational institution.

He handed over a financial sanction of Rs 10 crore under the NMDFC for Ladakh. Minister Rijiju also said that he will think on the proposal for the introduction of Ziyarat tours for Shia Muslims, modelled on the Pattern of the Hajj pilgrimage.

Later, he attended Muharram Majalis at Jamiyat Ul Ulama Isna Ashria, Kargil and interacted with President JUIAK, Ladakh and Chairman IKMT, Kargil.

Meanwhile, the budget session of Parliament will be held from July 22 to August 12.

The union budget for 2024-25 will be presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on July 23.

The first budget of the BJP-led government NDA in its fresh term would be significant, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi having stated earlier that the third term will be used to write new chapters of bold decisions.

The first session of Parliament after the formation of 18th Lok Sabha was stormy, with the opposition and government clashing on a range of issues including NEET-UG examination row. (ANI)
