Srinagar, May 10: Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla today visited Police Headquarters at Srinagar where he chaired senior officers meeting. He was accompanied by Director IB, Tapan Kumar Deka.
The Union Home Secretary was received by DGP J&K Dilbag Singh and his team of officers on his arrival at PHQ.
DGP J&K Dilbag Singh and other officers briefed the Union Home Secretary regarding the working of Jammu and Kashmir Police and measures taken for maintaining peace in the UT. On the occasion, DGP on behalf of all ranks of J&K Police presented mementos to the Union Home Secretary & DIB as a token of love & respect.
The meeting was attended among others by Additional Chief Secretary J&K, R. K. Goyal, Spl. DG CID J&K R. R. Swain, ADGP Jammu, Mukesh Singh, ADGP Headquarters PHQ, M. K. Sinha, IGP Traffic J&K, Vikramjeet Singh and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri.
On Tuesday, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla reviewed security arrangements for the upcoming G20 meeting in Srinagar. Director of Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka and senior security officials of the Union territory and central security agencies were present at the review.
He also reviewed security arrangements for the upcoming Amaranth Yatra. The 62-day pilgrimage will begin on July 1. Director General of J&K Police Dilbag Singh, the ADGPs of Kashmir and Jammu, and senior officials of the J&K administration were present at the meeting.
The meeting mainly focused on apprehensions of potential threats surrounding the G20 meetings in Srinagar. An extensive plan made by the security grid to thwart threats posed by vehicle borne IEDs, suicide attacks, sticky bombs, drone operated attacks and grenades was discussed.
