Srinagar, July 29: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, convened a high-level meeting on Monday to address recent trends in terror activities and the crucial need for inter-agency cooperation. The meeting, attended by officials from CAPF, Intelligence agencies, Police, Security wing, and Civil administration, was focused on enhancing security measures ahead of the 15th August celebrations.
ADGP Jain underscored the need for heightened alertness and the peaceful conduct of the ongoing Amarnath Yatra.
“He stressed on maintaining a high level of alertness and ensuring the peaceful conduct of the ongoing Amarnath Yatra. He directed officers to remain vigilant in border areas and hinterland to prevent any infiltration attempts,” a police officer stated.
The meeting also highlighted the increasing use of drones by terror outfits for illicit activities. “Special attention was given to countering the increasing use of drones by terror outfits for illicit activities,” the officer added. Jain called for reinforcing the border deployment grid, securing Police and Army establishments, and focusing on offensive operations in addition to preventive measures.
Key measures discussed included the establishment of joint checkpoints at vulnerable locations and inter-district boundaries, and the strengthening of Naka points on national highways to monitor anti-social elements. Jain urged officers to thwart any malicious plans by terrorists and to reinforce security grids across the border, highways, and hinterland. “He directed the formulation of comprehensive security plans to achieve desired results,” the officer said.
The meeting also covered security arrangements for Independence Day celebrations. Officers briefed ADGP Jain on the security scenarios and measures in place in their respective jurisdictions to ensure a peaceful environment for the public.
