Union Minister of Railways, Communications and Electronics & Information Technology,
Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday said that Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL) will be completed by January 2024.
Addressing a press conference in Srinagar to discuss infrastructure related works on the USBRL projects, he said Kashmir will fill connected to rest of country by the December 2023 or January 2024 positively.
“Special designed Vande Bharat trains are being manufactured for Kashmir keeping it’s weather conditions in consideration,” he said.
Regarding Budget allocation for railways this year, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said with budget outlay of Rs 5,983 crore, the Jammu and Kashmir highest ever allocation for railway projects.
“Since 2014, there has been substantial increase in Budget allocationand commensurate commissioning of projects. While allocation for Infrastructure projects during 2014-19 has been enhanced to ₹1,726 crore per year from ₹1,044 crore per year during2009-14, which is 65% more than Average Annual Budget allocationduring 2009-14,” he said.
