Udhampur, Nov 18: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Udhampur East, Ranbir Singh Pathania on Monday highlighted various initiatives by the Narendra Modi-led government to improve healthcare across the nation. He particularly mentioned the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which is the world’s largest health insurance programme, offering up to Rs 5 lakh annual coverage for families, thus reducing the financial burden of medical treatment for millions of families.
Pathania inaugurated a comprehensive medical camp at Tikri. The camp attracted a large turnout, with many patients also receiving free medicines, a statement issued from the MLA’s office said.
Addressing the people on the occasion, Pathania, representing the BJP, said, “Under Ayushman Bharat, over 50 crore citizens are now eligible for health insurance, which has proven to be a game-changer in making healthcare affordable.” He also mentioned the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), under which more than 2.5 crore hospital admissions have been covered, strengthening the healthcare infrastructure in the country, particularly in rural areas.
The BJP leader highlighted the government’s dual focus on both treatment and prevention. “The focus is not just on treating illnesses but on preventing them through initiatives like the National Health Mission (NHM), which works towards ensuring clean drinking water, improved sanitation, and better maternal and child healthcare,” he said.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to transforming Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in Udhampur East into Model Health Centres, providing round-the-clock services that address both curative and preventive healthcare.
Pathania inaugurated a Panchayat Ghar and a Gymnasium at Panchayat Roun 1 to promote community wellness and active engagement. He also launched two key road projects to enhance regional connectivity.
“We are working to make Udhampur a model of integrated development, where health, infrastructure and community welfare go hand in hand,” the MLA said.
Pathania said he will organise more medical camps in remote and underserved areas to ensure that healthcare reaches every citizen, regardless of their location. These efforts align with the Modi government’s vision of “Health for All” to make quality healthcare accessible to every citizen, he said.
