Jammu, Oct 01: To probe into the twin explosions in two busses in Udhampur District, the J&K police have questioned over a dozen people, including the drivers and the cleaners of the busses.
Two people were injured in the twin explosions in two busses in Udhampur district on September 28 and 29. While the first explosion occurred in a bus JK14D-6857 parked near a petrol pump at Domail area at around 10: 30 pm on September 28 the second explosion occurred in a bus parked inside Udhampur Bus Stand at around 6 am the next day. Both the busses reached Udhampur from a common place—Ramnagar.
Police sources said that over a dozen suspects were detained by different police teams from Basantgarh, Udhampur and parts of Kashmir for questioning. “They are still being quizzed,” they said.
“One of the drivers was quizzed for around three-and-a-half hours at the spot of the explosion itself on the intervening nights of September 28-29 while the other driver and cleaners were called for questioning to police station Udhampur,” they said.
“The drivers and the cleaners have also been asked to cooperate with the police teams in collecting evidences from Ramnagar, the place where both the busses originated from,” police sources further said.
Udhampur police, however, officially denied to have detained any suspect for questioning.
“We’ve not detained anyone thus far. Investigation into the case is however going on,” DySP Headquarters, Udhampur, Sahil Mahajan told The Rising Kashmir.
Asked whether any arrest has been made so far, he said: “no, we haven’t arrested anyone yet”.
Pertinently, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the investigation of the case.
