SRINAGAR: Two students from the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory have been selected among the top 60 innovators in the prestigious 10th National Level and Project Competition (NLEPC), INSPIRE MANAK for the 2021-2022.
Seventeen students from the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory participated in the national level competition, and Adil Rashid Bara from Government High School, Lachampora, Kupwara, and Preeti Devi from Government High School Chinkah, Reasi, have been got selected to represent Jammu and Kashmir Union Terrority in the 10th National Level and Project Competition (NLEPC), INSPIRE MANAK for the 2021-2022.
The Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the National Innovation Foundation (NIF) of the Government of India selected these top 60 projects.
Both Adil and Preeti were felicitated by Dr. Jitender Singh, the Union Minister of Science and Technology, Government of India.
Adil Rashid Bara’s story is heartwarming and inspiring. Moved by the tragedy of a neighbour who lost both hands in a house fire, Adil embarked on a mission to help his neighbour.
Bara designed a tool that would aid him and other handless people, particularly those from humble backgrounds who could afford it at a nominal cost.
Adil’s mentor, Mohammad Rafiq Mir, a dedicated teacher at Government High School, Lachampora, Kupwara, introduced him to the prestigious scientific platform, INSPIRE MANAK, helping him refine and perfect his creation.
It is a source of immense pride for Adil and his family that he has achieved recognition at the national level, especially considering his modest background. Adil’s father is a hardworking farmer, and he hails from a family of six siblings.
Adil’s message epitomizes unwavering determination, as he implores individuals to persevere in the pursuit of their dreams and persist until they achieve success.
Preeti Devi, a student from Government High School Chinkah, Reasi, has become the second student from Jammu and Kashmir to secure a position among the top 60 innovators in INSPIRE MANAK.
Her journey of inspiration commenced during a classroom lecture on natural disaster management, where her SST teacher, Jugal Kumar, discussed the evacuation procedures for individuals residing on the second floor or higher during emergencies. Preeti’s imagination soared, leading her to conceive an emergency convertible window ladder.
Preeti’s father, who is a teacher at her school, exemplifies her family’s dedication to education.
However, the journey for these exceptional individuals does not culminate here. The Government of India, through the National Innovation Foundation (NIF), will provide support for the development, patenting, and eventual marketing of these groundbreaking technologies, promising tangible real-world impact.
Dr. Sajad Ahmad Mir, Nodal Officer of INSPIRE MANAK for Kashmir at the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), extends his heartfelt congratulations to Adil Rashid Bara and Preeti Devi.
“The efforts of mentor teachers, zonal Nodal Officers, District Nodal Officers, and other influential figures in the education sector who have indirectly or directly contributed to nurturing these extraordinary students,” Mir said.
Dr. Sajad said that this remarkable achievement not only brings honor to Jammu and Kashmir but also underscores the remarkable potential of young minds when provided with opportunities to innovate and create. It is a moment of immense pride for the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, and the promising future that these young innovators are shaping is nothing short of inspiring.
He has also written a book on “The Art of Innovations: Inspire Manak Pioneering the Future World,” which is available online on Amazon. In which he has written about students from Jammu and Kashmir and their innovative ideas who have been selected for the INSPIRE MANAK till this day.
