Two weeks after Reasi op, foreign terrorist’s body retrieved

Jammu, Aug 18: The body of the second terrorist, who was injured in an encounter with the security forces on August 5, was retrieved from Dhakikot area of Reasi district of Jammu region on Friday during a joint search operation by the security forces, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu, Mukesh Singh said.
Huge cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered from the site including two grenades, three AK magazines (7.62mm), 90 AK rounds (7.62mm), 32 pistol rounds (9mm) besides some other material.
Lt Col Suneel Bartwal, Defence spokesman (Jammu) said that the terrorist, whose body was found in the deep forest area today, “is likely to be a foreigner”. He added, “Massive joint search operation was on since August 5 to track down the injured terrorist”. Bartwal said on the night of August 17, joint teams of Army and JKP “observed some suspicious movement of a person in the forest area of Dhakikot”. He added, “When challenged by the security forces, he tried to escape after which the forces readjusted their position to prevent his escape and then the person (terrorist) was seen stumbling and falling down the cliff”.   The search was stopped in the night and in the morning on Friday ( August 18), body of the terrorist was recovered from the site.
Bartwal said the terrorist, whose body has been found, is the second terrorist who was injured in the encounter on August 5 in Khawas area of Rajouri but managed to escape. One terrorist was killed, while another was injured in the gunbattle in Khawas area of Rajouri district on August 5. “The body of the second terrorist injured in an encounter at Khawas, was found by Special Operation Group (SoG) at Dhakikot area of Reasi,” the ADGP added. 
 
 
Huge cache of arms, ammunition recovered near LoC in Kupwara
Security forces have recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district, the Army said on Friday.
“Based on concrete intelligence inputs by agencies on attempts by terrorists to induct war like stores into Kashmir Valley from across the Line of Control, a Joint Operation was launched by Indian Army, BSF and JKP from 15 to 18 Aug in Machhal Sector, Kupwara,” Army said in a statement.
The Army spokesperson added, “During the search operations, huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered at around 11am on August 18 to include five AK Series Rifles, eight AK Magazines, seven 9mm Pistols, fifteen 9mm Pistol Magazines, four Hand Grenades, 7.62 mm AK Rounds, 7.62 mm AP Rounds and 9 mm Rounds and other incriminating material.”
