Two theft cases solved in Srinagar, three accused arrested: Police

Police on Monday have solved two burglary cases by arresting three accused persons involved in the commission of crime in Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.

A Police spokesperson said that Police Post Hazratbal received a written complaint from an individual namely Junaid Maqbool Mir son of Mohammed Maqbool Mir resident of Litter Pulwama stating there in that on 13/02/2024, his mobile phone( Vivo Y21) had been stolen by some unknown theif/theives at Dargah Shrine.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 12/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at PS Nigeen and investigation was initiated.

During the course of investigation, two suspects were zeroed in on, who have been identified as Gowhar Ahmad Wani son of Wali Mohammed Wani resident of Aarigam Budgam and Mohammed Shoaib Sheikh son of Reyaz Ahmad Sheikh resident of Khanshab Budgam.

During the sustained questioning, they admitted their involvement in the commission of crime.

Upon their disclosure, the stolen mobile phone (Vivo Y21 ) along with 07 other stolen mobile phones (3 Redmi , 01 Oppo, 02 Realme, 01 Samsung) and one power bank (20000 mah) were recovered from their possession.

Further investigation is going on and more recoveries are expected.

In another incident, Police Post Noorbagh received a written complaint from a shopkeeper namely Ishfaq Ahmad Dev son of Ali Mohd Dev resident of Bhagwanpora Noorbagh, stating there in that during night hours some unknown thieves/thief entered his shop located in Bhagwanpora and looted cash and other valuable items from his shop. Accordingly, case under relevant sections of law was registered in PS Safakadal and investigation was set into motion.

During the course of investigation, investigating team after analysing various CCTV cameras ans technical evidence, the accused namely Suhaib Ahmad Dar son of Tariq Ahmad Dar resident of Guzarbal Noorbagh was identified and he was subsequently arrested.

Upon his disclosure,stolen cash amounting to ₹50,000 and a cheque had been recovered from his residential house.

J&K Police is committed to eliminating the social crimes from the society. Respectable citizens are requested to share information of anti-social elements with J&K Police in shaping better society & good future of our youth.
