Two LeT terrorists held in Sopore

Srinagar, Sept 22: The Jammu and Kashmir Police along with security forces Thursday claimed to have arrested two terrorists linked with Lasker-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist organisation in Botingoo village of Sopore in Baramulla district, officials said.
A police spokesman said on the basis of a reliable information about the presence of LeT terrorists in Botingoo village, a joint CASO was launched by Sopore Police alongwith 22 RR, 179 BN CRPF, Det Marcos and area was cordoned-off and subsequently searches were started.”
The spokesman said during the searches 02 persons within the cordoned area in an orchard were found in a suspicious condition and were apprehended on spot.
They revealed their identity as Imtiyaz Ahmad Ganai son of Abdul Rahim and Waseem Ahmad Lone son of Ghulam Rasool Lone, both residents of Botingoo village.
As per police, 1 pistol, 01 pistol magazine, 08 pistol rounds were recovered from the possession of Imtiyaz Ahmad Ganai, while 01 Chinese hand grenade was recovered from Waseem Ahmad Lone.
“During preliminary questioning, the duo revealed that they were working as hybrid terrorist and OGW respectively for the banned terrorist organization LeT,” the spokesman said.
As per Police investigation, at the behest of active LeT terrorist Bilal Hamza son of Mohammad Hamza Mir resident of Brath Kalan Sopore, they were planning to attack security forces and civilians in and around Sopore area.
Meanwhile Police has registered an FIR at Police Station Sopore under relevant provisions of law and further investigation is underway in the case.
