Srinagar, July 11: Two people lost their lives and four others sustained injuries, two of them critically, after a Tata Sumo vehicle rolled down a deep gorge in the SanabatiUkerhal area of Ramban district on Friday.As per Police, Tata Sumo, bearing registration number JK14C-2030, was on its way from Gool to Ramban when the driver reportedly lost control on a sharp curve, causing the vehicle to plunge into a steep ravine.The deceased have been identified as Abdul Latif, 45, son of Ghulam Hassan Gujjer, a resident of LaskharBingara, and Tanveer Ahmed Butt, 32, son of Ghulam Mohammad Butt, a resident of GujjaranNaristan. Both died on the spot due to the severity of their injuries.Four other passengers were injured in the accident and were rushed to GMC Anantnag and nearby health facilities for treatment. Among the injured, Ajaz Ahmed Butt, 19, son of Nisar Ahmed Butt, a resident of Gujjaran, was shifted to GMC Anantnag in critical condition. The other injured include Shakeel Ahmed, 24, son of Abdul Rasheed Butt of GujjaranParistan; Yawar Ahmed Butt, 17, son of Mushtaq Ahmed Butt of Gujjaran; and Mohammad Rafiq, 48, son of Ahmed Gujjer, also from GujjaranParistan. Rafiq, who is the owner of the Tata Sumo, also sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment.Meanwhile police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. Rescue teams and local authorities reached the spot soon after the accident and assisted in evacuating the injured to hospitals.
