Srinagar, Aug 02: The Jammu and Kashmir Police along with security forces on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two hybrid terrorists of proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession.
A police officer told Rising Kashmir that following specific information regarding movement of terrorists in Baramulla town, a joint team of Police, Army (46RR) and CRPF (53Bn) established a Mobile Vehicle Check Post at Azadgunj Old Town, Baramulla.
“During checking two suspected persons were intercepted who tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully. They have been identified as Faisal Majeed Ganie son of Abdul Majeed resident of Bungalow Bagh Baramulla and Nourul Kamran Ganie son of Mohammad Akbar Ganie resident of Bagh-e-Islam Old Town Baramulla,” he said.
The officer said incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including one pistol, one pistol magazine, four live pistol rounds and one grenade were recovered from their possession. The police officer said that during preliminary investigation, it came to fore that both the arrested persons are hybrid terrorists and are linked with proscribed terrorist outfit LeT. They had collected the arms and ammunition for carrying terrorist activities in Baramulla town in view of forthcoming Independence Day, he said. “Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Baramulla and investigation has been initiated,” the police officer said.
