Continuing its unwavering efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 02 drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A Spokesperson said that a police party headed by SHO police station Qazigund during patrolling noticed a person carrying a nylon bag and roaming in suspicious circumstances near bus stand Qazigund. He was intercepted and after search, officers present were able to recover 2.5 Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance filled in the said bag from his possession. The person identified as Mohd Mansoor Gojer son of Mohd Hussain Gojer a resident of Nowgolta Chanani was arrested on spot.
“Moreover, a police party of Police Station Qaimoh established a specific checkpoint (Naka) at Wanpora Crossing and during checking one suspicious person identified as Abdul Rashid Dar son of Ghulam Mohd Dar resident of Shamsipora carrying a nylon bag was intercepted. After search, officers were able to recover 04 Kgs of Grinded Cannabis like contraband substance filled in the said bag from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody”, he said.
Subsequently, cases under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Qazigund and Qaimoh respectively and investigation has been initiated in both the cases.
