Two dead, one injured in landslide on Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine track

Katra, Sept 02 : Two people were killed and one person was injured after a landslide followed by shooting stones was witnessed near the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine track on Monday.
Deputy Commissioner of Reasi, Vishesh Paul Mahajan told Rising Kashmir that two women pilgrims died while a girl was grievously injured in a landslide on the new track to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Reasi district.
“The preliminary information report to say that two women have died and a girl grievously injured in the incident. The landslide hit the route near Panchi, three kilometres ahead of Bhawan around 2.35 pm. A portion of an overhead iron structure was also damaged,” he said.
The pilgrims were heading for the shrine when they got trapped under the iron structure following the landslide.
Meanwhile, District Administration, Reasi has issued an advisory stating that due to inclement weather conditions, rain, thunder storm in district Reasi. All inhabitants are requested to stay inside their houses and stay away from water bodies, it said.
