Srinagar, Nov 14: Two individuals lost their lives, and one suffered critical injuries when a Thar vehicle collided head-on with a tripper in the Tengpora area of Srinagar on Thursday afternoon.

According to officials, the accident occurred as the Thar and tripper collided forcefully, resulting in the death of two individuals on the spot, while a third person sustained severe injuries.

All three were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared Hammad, a resident of Lal Bazar, and Azeem, a resident of Sanat Nagar, dead on arrival. The injured person, identified as Mohammed Issa Ganai from Nowshera, is currently undergoing treatment, with his condition reported as critical.

The incident highlights the growing concern over road safety in Srinagar. Statistics indicate that from January 1 to September 30, the city has seen approximately 362 accidents, resulting in 36 fatalities and 379 injuries. Of these, 327 incidents were classified as non-fatal, while 35 were fatal, marking Srinagar as the region with the highest rate of road accidents in Kashmir.

The police department has confirmed the accident and launched an investigation to ascertain the cause. Authorities emphasize the need for heightened road safety measures as the city grapples with many traffic-related incidents.
