Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday claimed to have booked two bovine smugglers under Public Safety Act (PSA) in Kishtwar district.
In a statement issued by the SSP Kishtwar Khalil Poswal-JKPS said that the notorious bovine smugglers namely Ishtiaq Ahmed S/o Mohd Rafiq R/o Pehalgam Sigdi Mughalmaidan & Atta Mohd S/o Nasra Reshi R/o Dellar Chatroo have been detained under PSA issued by the orders passed by District Magistrate Kishtwar and lodged in District Jail Kishtwar for their repeated involvement in bovine smuggling cases.
It is pertinent to mention here in that both the accused are found repeat offenders of bovine smuggling. They were active since long and involved in multiple FIRs of Bovine smuggling registered at different Police Stations of the District.
” The accused were kept under surveillance and ultimately on the basis of technical and human intelligence, a team of Police Station Chattoo of Kishtwar Police succeeded to apprehend them. The accused persons were not only active in kishtwar District but also indulged in bovine smuggling in adjoining Districts also. Both the detentions under PSA will definitely act as deterrence to the criminals and bovine smugglers of the area to desist from Bovine smuggling in future”, he said.
In place to mention here that under operation KAMDHENU, Kishtwar Police has launched a special drive against the bovine smugglers and this year (15) cases of bovine smuggling have been registered so far in which (24) persons have been arrested, (02) vehicles involved in transportation of bovine animals have been seized and (75) bovine animals have been rescued.
In a clear message, SSP Kishtwar Mr. Poswal-JKPS warn all the bovine smugglers to refrain from such behaviour if anyone found indulged in such an act, will be dealt with iron hand. SSP Kishtwar also sought cooperation from the general public so that the bovine smuggling which is a serious issue and has potential to flare law and order problem, is rooted out from the District.
