Police on Sunday said to have arrested two individuals during a routine naka checking at Tengpora Srinagar near Bund and recovered a brown sugar-like substance from their possession, officials said.
A Police official told that during patrolling, a vehicle bearing registration number JK05L/7039 was stopped for checking.
Upon searching, 4 grams of a brown sugar-like substance were recovered from the occupants.
He identified the arrested individuals as Sahil Shafi Bhat, son of Mohammad Shafi Bhat, a resident of Butkout Handwara, and Mushtaq Ahmad Ganai, son of Ghulam Mohammad Ganai, a resident of Baakihaker Handwara.
He said, following the recovery, an FIR No. 18/2025 under sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Batamaloo, and further investigation is underway.
