Srinagar, Oct 08: Two Army porters were injured in a landmine blast near the Line Of Control (LOC) in Kalal sector of Rajouri district on Jammu region on Sunday, officials said.
The injured were identified as Raj Kumar and Ashwani Kumar, both residents of Mangiote villagem. They received splinter injuries in the explosion in the forward Kalal area of the Nowshera sector.
A senior Army officer said that two porters were injured during landmine blast and both the injured porters were shifted to a hospital.
“As part of an anti-infiltration obstacle system, the forward areas are dotted with landmines which sometimes get washed away by rains resulting in such types of accidents,” he said.
The officer said authorities are investigating the incident to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the landmine blast.
“Safety measures and precautions in these sensitive areas remain a top priority to prevent such unfortunate incidents in the future,” he added.
Earlier, an officer allegedly opened fire and exploded grenades injuring at least five army personnel, including three officers in the Rajouri district.
