Jammu, June 17: Under the esteemed chairmanship of Moti Lal Malla Ji, Amar Balidan Trust-Society, Buta Nagar, Jammu Tuesday organised a solemn and dignified commemorative function at Sanjeevani Sharada Kendra, Bohri, Jammu, to mark the 11th death anniversary of the revered community leader, late Hira Lal Chatta Ji.
A statement said that the event was attended by over 100 community members, dignitaries and well-wishers, who gathered to pay rich and heartfelt tributes to the departed soul. The programme began with the recitation of a shloka from the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita by P K Raina Ji, setting a spiritual and reflective tone. This was followed by the traditional Deep Prajwalan (lamp lighting) and floral tributes. AK Raina, President of Amar Balidan Trust, delivered an insightful address, recounting the foundation and mission of the Trust. He highlighted the pioneering roles of Amar Nath Vaishnavi Hira Lal Chatta Ji, Moti Lal Malla Ji in its establishment, with the vision of serving displaced and underprivileged members of the Kashmiri Pandit community. He hailed Chatta Ji as the most dedicated leader of the KP community after Vaishnavi Ji. Justice (Retd.) Bhushan Lal Saraf remembered Chatta Ji as a man of simplicity and selflessness, wholly committed to the upliftment of his community. He urged unity to confront contemporary challenges. Swami Kumar paid glowing tributes, describing Chatta Ji as a towering figure in the community. He emphasised the need to revive ASKPC (All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference) and encourage new leadership inspired by the ideals of Vaishnavi Ji and Chatta Ji. Sundari Lal Koul remembered Chatta Ji as a bold and helpful leader. Ashok Koul, Organising Secretary of BJP (J&K UT), shared personal reflections on his long association with both Vaishnavi and Chatta Ji, especially during the 1990 migration. He lauded their efforts in securing educational opportunities for displaced KP youth across India, which significantly shaped the community’s future. Other notable speakers included Dolly Tickoo, Ashok Braru, Prof. Virender Rawal and Piyara Lal Pandita. The prayer meeting was also graced by Alok Chatta, son of late Chatta Ji, symbolising the emotional resonance and generational impact of the occasion.
