In a concerted effort to enhance road safety and ensure the well-being of motorists, Transport Commissioner, J&K, Rajinder Singh Tara conducted a rigorous inspection of driving skill tests and the fitness of vehicles at DL skill test ground, Khanpur- Nagrota here today.

Regional Transport Officer, Jammu, Pankaj Bhagotra also accompanied the TC on the occasion.

During the inspection, the Transport Commissioner closely observed the ongoing tests, providing valuable insights into the processes. Notably, the Commissioner issued crucial directions and instructions aimed at improving facilities at the ground and ensuring greater transparency in the evaluation procedures.

The comprehensive inspection that took about one hour involved meticulous assessments of driver competence and the roadworthiness of vehicles.

The TC urged the ARTO and MVIs to take into consideration drivers’ adherence to traffic rules, ability to handle various road conditions, and overall driving proficiency while conducting the DL skill test.

Simultaneously, a meticulous examination of vehicles took place, focusing on essential components such as brakes, lights, tyres, and overall mechanical condition. The goal was to identify potential safety hazards and ensure that vehicles met the required standards for roadworthiness.

The Transport Commissioner emphasizes the importance of such inspections in fostering safer roads and reducing the likelihood of accidents.

ARTO Board of Inspection, Esha Chib, MVIs Surinder Kumar and Jasbir Singh were also present during the inspection.
