Tragic road accident claims life of Uttar Pradesh labourer in Leh

Leh, Aug 02: A heart-wrenching road accident unfolded at Lamayuru, Leh in the union territory of Ladakh, resulting in the untimely demise of a labourer hailing from Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.
According to official sources, the mishap involved an Eicher truck with registration number CH01TB/2279. The truck was en route from Srinagar to Leh when it skidded off the road and collided with safety barriers near Lamayuru. This tragic accident took place within the jurisdiction of Police Station Khalsi.
Tragically, the collision led to the immediate fatality of a labourer who was on board the ill-fated truck at the time of the accident. Authorities are working to confirm the identity of the deceased labourer from Uttar Pradesh.
In a swift response to the accident, a team from Police Station Khalsi was dispatched to the site to initiate rescue operations. The team’s prompt action demonstrated their commitment to addressing such unfortunate incidents swiftly and efficiently.
The Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Khalsi provided preliminary information, stating that the accident resulted in the loss of life of at least one labourer from Uttar Pradesh. However, the exact details and further information are yet to be received.
At present, the rescue operation is still ongoing, as the team continues its efforts to ensure the safety of any other potential victims. Additionally, the police have launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident to ascertain the causes and contributing factors.
