In a devastating incident on the Srinagar-Leh Highway, Five tourists, including the driver among six met a tragic fate when their Tata Sumo veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near Panimatha Zojila Pass.
Official sources report that the Tata Sumo, traveling from Zero Point to Sonamarg, lost control on the slippery road conditions near Panimatha.
The immediate aftermath saw the loss of five lives on the spot, while the surviving individuals were swiftly transported to PHC Sonamarg for medical attention. The driver, critical from the impact, was urgently shifted to SKIMS Soura; however, the unfortunate news followed as he succumbed to injuries en route to the hospital.
Two other passengers, injured in the accident, are currently receiving further treatment. Rescue operations remain underway with the collaborative efforts of Sonamarg Police, SDRF Gund Component, and medical teams at the accident site.
