Srinagar, Dec 13: In a concerted effort to curb road accidents and traffic violations in the Kashmir Valley, the Traffic Rural Kashmir has intensified its operations across the region.
Ravinder Pal Singh, SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, revealed while speaking with Rising Kashmir that daily drives are being conducted in various parts of the valley to take strict actions against those violating traffic rules.
Singh highlighted their focus on minimizing fatalities and road accidents, citing negligence and rash driving as major contributors to accidents.
He stated that the intensified drives have resulted in a noticeable decline in stunt bikes and reckless driving. Additionally, the traffic police are actively seizing vehicles, with a significant number being impounded daily. Two-wheeler riders without helmets are also being targeted during these operations.
The SSP emphasized the importance of educating the public about traffic rules, stating that their goal is not only punitive but also preventative. In some instances, actions have been taken against minors found violating traffic regulations, and parents have been called upon to address their children’s reckless behavior.
Singh urged parents to take responsibility by closely monitoring their children’s activities and not allowing them to operate vehicles.
Expressing his concern over the loss of lives in accidents, he stressed that following traffic rules is crucial in reducing road accidents.
“If we follow the traffic rules, there will definitely be a decline in road accidents,” Singh affirmed. The Traffic Rural Kashmir continues to work towards creating a safer road environment through enforcement, education, and community involvement.
