Baramulla, Nov 13: SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, R.P Singh, issued an appeal to vehicle owners on Monday, urging them to thoroughly check the details, background, and behaviour of drivers before entrusting them with their vehicles.
Emphasizing the importance of responsible drivers, SSP Traffic advised against handing vehicles to untrained individuals, drug peddlers, or those with questionable behaviour.
He underscored the need for vehicle owners to ensure all necessary documents, including fitness certificates and valid driving licenses, are in order.
“Violators will face penalties, and considering Baramulla’s status as a border area, strict measures will be taken against overloading in public transport vehicles,” warned SSP R.P Singh.
As part of a larger initiative, a team of traffic department headed by SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, R.P Singh conducted a Special Drive against traffic rule violators on the Baramulla-Uri National Highway.
Approximately 30 individuals were fined for wrong parking, and dozens faced penalties for not adhering to traffic regulations, with a specific focus on tippers, matadors, and school buses.
Highlighting concerns about unregistered school buses flouting Supreme Court rules, Singh urged drivers and teachers to report such cases.
Addressing the issue of stunts performed by youth, he issued a warning, cautioning parents against allowing teenagers to use bikes and cars.
SSP Traffic stressed the importance of scrutinizing driving license applications, urging Regional Transport offices not to issue licenses without proper scrutiny.
He said that the traffic police’s proactive measures aim to enhance road safety, curb violations, and ensure responsible behaviour on the roads.
