Srinagar, Nov 23: The Traffic Police for Rural Kashmir launched special drives on Saturday at Naslapora in Budgam and Nihalpora in Pattan, Baramulla to curb the growing menace of underage driving.
During the operations, two vehicles were intercepted. One, a Maruti car (registration number JK01L-2699), was found to be driven by a minor, Maroof Lateef Dar, son of Lateef Ahmad Dar, from Naslapora, Budgam. The second vehicle, a Tavera (registration number RJ18TA-2291), was driven by another minor, Fazil Nabi Dhobi, son of Gh Nabi Dhobi, from Pattan, Baramulla.
“Both vehicles were seized by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Traffic Budgam and Baramulla under the relevant sections of the law. The violators were counselled and given an opportunity to safeguard their future,” a traffic police official said.
The Traffic Police said strict legal action would be taken against underage drivers in the future. They also issued directives to all challaning officers to continue conducting such drives to eliminate the menace of underage driving and ensure the safety of all road users.
