Budgam, Feb 03 : In order to provide awareness among the general public regarding the traffic rules, the traffic police department for rural Kashmir, along with NGOs, conducted a special drive and awareness program at Humhama and its adjacent areas in central Kashmir.
An official from the traffic police department from rural Kashmir said the programme was aimed at penalizing drivers and riders for various traffic violations, such as riding without helmets, not wearing seatbelts, and pollution-related offenses.
“As a result, nearly 40-45 challans were executed. The violators were not only penalized but also briefed and aware of the consequences of their actions, which can lead to road fatalities,” the official said.
He said that this drive was well-received by the general public, who pledged not to support violations that can cause casualties.
“This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts to curb traffic violations and promote road safety in rural Kashmir. Similar drives have been conducted in the past, such as the massive traffic enforcement drive, which will be repeated on a daily basis,” the official said.
