Traffic movement on NH44 restored: Officials

Srinagar, Sept 27: Traffic movement on Srinagar-Jammu national highway (NH) was restored on Tuesday evening and as many as 1800 fruit-laden and other heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) released from Valley crossed Ramban and moved towards Jammu, said the officials.
The Traffic Police authorities in its tweet informed that the traffic has started moving at Cafeteria Morh on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.
 
“Traffic update at 1500 hrs. Traffic started moving at Cafeteria on Jammu-Srinagar NHW,” said in a tweet by Traffic Police.
 
Meanwhile, Divisional Administration Jammu in a tweet said that1800 fruit-laden and other HMVs released from Valley have crossed Ramban towards Jammu.
 
It further informed that another 1500 HMVs are moving slowly towards their destination. District Administration and Traffic & Executive Police supervising traffic flow on spot.”
 
“Out of 3100 released from Qazigund 1800 have crossed the Mehar slide point. 1300 yet to cross. Clearance is very slow due to shooting stones at regular intervals,” Divisional Administration Jammu said in another tweet.
 
Earlier, J&K traffic Police authorities on Tuesday morning on their official Twitter handle informed that both sides of traffic was stopped in view of repair work at Cafeteria Morh Ramban on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.
 
“Traffic update at 0610 hrs. Both sides of traffic stopped in view of repair work in progress at Cafeteria Morh Ramban on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. However Mughal road and SSG road through for vehicular movement”, J&K Traffic Police said in the tweet.
 
In another tweet, traffic authorities said, “Jammu-Srinagar NHW blocked due to continuous shooting stones at Cafeteria Morh Ramban. Mughal road and SSG road for vehicular movement.”
