Jammu, July 6: The Traffic Police Headquarters, J&K has issued a comprehensive advisory for commuters and goods vehicle operators travelling on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) and other key routes across the Union Territory for July 7 amid ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra and challenging road conditions.An official statement issued here said that slow traffic movement was reported between 5 July 5 1700 hrs to 6 July, 1600 hrs due to the breakdown of three Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) and single-lane traffic at vulnerable stretches such as Nashri–Dalwas and Marog–Kishtwari Pather.In view of security protocols and to facilitate smoother movement, commuters from Reasi, Katra, Udhampur, Patnitop, Doda and Ramban have been advised to carry valid photo identification, especially if travelling after the cut-off timing from Jammu or Udhampur.The statement said that Subject to fair weather and road conditions, the following plan will be implemented for July 7. “Jammu-Srinagar NH-44—LMVs, passenger vehicles and SANJY convoy will be allowed from both directions. HMVs will operate on alternate days only, with clearance from TCU Ramban. Cut-off timings for LMVs– Nagrota (Jammu) to Srinagar: 0600 hrs to 1200 hrs, Jakheni (Udhampur) to Srinagar: 0700 hrs to 1300 hrs, Qazigund to Jammu: 1130 hrs to 1400 hrs and no vehicle shall be permitted to move before or after these timings,” the statement said.It said that for HMVs, load carriers, movement from NAVYUG Tunnel (Qazigund side) towards Jammu will be permitted after assessment of road cnditions and will be stopped after 1900 hrs. “In view of the Amarnath Yatra, the UT Administration has directed that tankers of petrol, diesel, LPG, empty LPG trucks, empty FCI vehicles, and any loaded/empty truck up to 10 tyres must return to Jammu via the Mughal Road, as per the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir’s advisory dated 1 July 2025,” the advisory reads.It said that for Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road (NH-244)—LMVs and High Priority Service Vehicles (HPSVs) will be allowed both ways from– PP Parana to Anantnag: 0800 hrs to 1600 hrs. “For PP Daksum to Kishtwar: 0900 hrs to 1500 hrs, HMVs (except designated HPSVs) will not be permitted, as per orders from SDMs of Chhatroo and Kokernag,” the statement said, adding that for SSG Road (Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari)–Minamarg to Srinagar: 0500 hrs to 1000 hrs (LMVs followed by HMVs), Sonamarg to Kargil: 1130 hrs to 1730 hrs while as no vehicle shall be allowed beyond these timings. Security Forces (SFs) are advised to coordinate movement to avoid clashes with the Yatra convoys.”For Mughal Road (Shopian–Poonch)– LMVs (passenger,private) are allowed both ways.“HMVs (up to 10 tyres)—allowed from Shopian to Poonch only. Movement will be permitted between 0700 hrs to 1800 hrs, following weather clearance from GREF,” it said.
